You see, Pitt’s life revolves around skiing. I don’t know how he has room in his head for anything else because from October to April it’s all he thinks about-snow pack, avy danger, weather forecast, gear, ideas, ideas, ideas. I’m lucky enough to ride on his wave of enthusiasm and be his ski-buddy most of the time. Needless to say, this winter has been a bummer for freshies. So, one day while storm-tracking, he got this idea in his head. We left the next morning at 5:30, dropped off the kid and headed to Targhee.
After a great-ish day of skiing–the epic storm turned out 60 mph winds so the powder was buried under a very thick, hard crust. This is what we had to say…”You can’t win them all. But you can’t win period if you don’t try.”
We are so glad we did it! I think this day was mostly to prove to ourselves that we can still just take off and ski where we want, when we want. We are grateful that we have awesome parents to help us with Emmett whenever we ask and also flexible jobs and bosses who understand Pitt’s priorities. I would have never dreamed this day up and actually followed through with it. Thanks to Pitt, we did.
