If you know me, you know that I love Disney! I’ve worked there and visited so many times that I call myself Tour-guide Barbie. Well, good news! This year Disney is offering a free 1-day ticket if you sign-up to volunteer with any of their approved organizations. They are calling it, Give a day, get a day. To me service is addicting, kind of like going to the gym. (“Addicting” is a little strong, but I can’t think of the right word) It is really hard to find the time and get going, but once you do it and you’re there it is great and you want to do it again! I think Disney is hoping that once people volunteer once then they’ll see how much fun it is and keep volunteering. I’d be interested to see if volunteer numbers change after this project. They’ve almost reached one million volunteers and it’s only March! You can also volunteer and then donate your ticket to a charitable organization if you can’t use it. If anyone can change the world it is Disney (sorry Obama). What a deal! Everyone should do this if you are planning a trip to California this year. So on Saturday night we went with Pitt’s parents for our volunteer experience. We signed up to help move chairs at Abravenel Hall. I think between the 4 of us, we have about 100+ hours of chair moving experience thanks to church functions. It also made me reminiscent of our wedding day when Pitt and I had to move chairs and tables after the luncheon and before the reception-yes, I was IN my wedding dress. So this job was tailor-made for us, the Dream Team of chair movers. We didn’t really know what to expect but honestly we were done in about 20 minutes. That’s it…Disneyland here we come! I can’t wait to see Emmett in his little Mickey ears!
