Work: The less fulfilling type of sleep

Work: The less fulfilling type of sleep

Sometimes going to work and putting in a day in front of a computer screen feels oddly similar to sleeping, But less fulfilling.

Those of you with office jobs have felt this way I am sure. Let me point out similarities to work and sleep.
1. Sometimes you spend a lot of time getting ready for both. but no matter how much time I have too get ready for either, I rarely make it to bed or to work at the time I should.

2. When I wake up in the morning I know that I did something cool in my dream but I just can’t remember it. Unless it was a nightmare, like flying all the way to Japan to ski and forgetting my ski boots and not being able to find any in my size and sitting and drinking tea the whole trip while it dumps snow. Then I can’t get that icky feeling out of my head for days. Similarly, when some one asks me how my day at work was, I know it was good, but rarely do I remember any details about what happened. Unless I sat through one of those meetings that never ends. Then I clearly remember what I did that day. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

3. For me, I often think about all that I could get done if I never had to sleep. That would be 7 hours gained every night. And every day around 2pm, I think about all that could be doing if I didn’t go to work. Now if I didn’t have to do either, I probably could finally finish Netflix. Yes, all of Netflix.

You might even be reading this at work. So hopefully you don’t remember it, unless my writing is some kind of nightmare.
